What to wear? Day 7

This is the last day of my challenge.  I must say I learned a lot about myself and how The Lord wants me to dress.

I saw this quote on a website:
"The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian does make me a different kind of woman. For I have accepted God's idea of me, and my whole life is an offering back to Him of all that I am and all that He wants me to be." (copied)

What to wear? Day 6

I'm almost done with my week what to wear challenge.  It is hard to put into words exactly how blessed I feel.  Thank you for all the kind words you have all left me.

I liked this dress when I first got it...but now that I've lost close to 30 pounds it just does not fit me right.  It is much too big.  I might try and take it in a bit.  But the dress is very comfortable...which I need for today because we have our home school co op and I do the gym class.

What to wear? Day 5

Day 5 is upon me....I am convinced this is the way the Lord wants me to dress.  My darling Husband surprised me with a wonderful nightgown...I will not be posting pictures of that...LOL!

I have 2 more days of my "challenge" to myself.  My daughters have also been wearing dresses with me...they have also noticed they feel much better wearing them.  We wore skirts/dresses to the museum yesterday and did not have a problem with them.

My darling Husband said I can go get some more dresses!  I pray you all have a glorious Lord's Day!!

Zephaniah 3:17 (King James Version)

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

What to wear? Day 4

I'm not sure this is one of my favorites. But it is nice for a casual outfit.  One of my biggest questions or excuses for not submitting to God's will on what to wear was how was I going to get my daily chores done.  Well yesterday I planted 50 strawberry plants, mowed the lawn, picked up brush, and weeded a couple of gardens with no trouble because of what I was wearing.

We went out to Cracker Barrel last night for supper...what a treat that was!!  We have not been able to go out for a long time.  But hubby surprised us with it.  Anyway, my daughters and I received compliments on how we looked.  That is not the reason we are changing the way we dress, but it does make the "great commission" (Matthew 28:19-20) easier for Christians to share the Gospel with others.

Have a blessed day!!

Feminine Friday

This is my first Feminine Friday!  I've finally submitted to God on my dress issue.  I've been documenting my journey over the past few days.

To see other beautiful pictures from Feminine Friday go on over to Buildeth Her House.

What to wear? Day 3

This has been such a wonderful week!  I've always heard people say "the clothes make the man", but never really gave it much thought to what I was wearing.  I've always been jeans and a tshirt kind of girl.  Even in high school!

I've had such a change of heart about a lot of things.  I'm so ready to take on the day, get up shower first thing.  Especially today...Friday...In the past I would stay in sweats until after noon.  We do not have school on Fridays so I'd just stay in my lounge wear.  This dress I have on today is a lot like the one I wore on Wednesday, but much lighter in color.  These dresses are so comfortable.  Today is my house cleaning day and laundry.

If you are stopping from Friday Follow...WELCOME!!  Grab a cup of tea or coffee and have a look around.  My blog is a place where I share everything from recipes to my Christian walk.  Friday Follow is hosted by Midday Escapades, One 2 Try.  Visit and follow the ones hosting!  Then you can follow as many others as you like.  BUT if someone follows you, please return the follow!!

What to wear? Day 2

I really am in a good mood this morning!! LOL!  Even tho the picture doesn't show it.  I really do not like my picture taken.  So that in its self is a big step.  I am on day 2 of my personal challenge.  Yesterday I felt really good.  It really is amazing to my how my attitude has changed in just one day.

Also, my husband has been very receptive to my wearing dresses/skirts.  I can't quite put my finger on it, but his attitude is a bit different as well.

I thought it would be difficult to do my daily chores in a dress yesterday but it was the exact opposite....the only trouble I had was at times walking up and down stairs, my dress got in the way...the joys of being short...LOL!

I also noticed that yesterday at the store and at the library people treated me different.  They smiled more at me, and said Hello.  I seemed to be more approachable.  Is this just me reading into it...or have other's found this as well.

I am VERY excited about my husband's response to my change of clothing.  It has also made me realize that I represent him.   Not that I started this because I wanted compliments and such.  It just warms my heart to see that look in my husband's eyes!  I think all you ladies know the one I'm talking about!!

What to wear? Day 1

Before I start let me say this...these are MY feelings and calling.  I by no means am judging anyone who doesn't feel the same as I.  I have felt a conviction from God to change the way I dress.  I have not felt feminine for a long time.  I have challenged myself to do it for 7 days.  Today is day 1!  I am wearing dresses or skirts only for one week and I will go from there.  Last night we went to a few local thrift stores and got enough dresses and skirts for a whole week, plus enough for our daughters as well.  They wanted to do the challenge with me!!  What a blessing it has been so far.

"Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as it proper for women making a claim to godliness." 1 Timothy 2:9

A while ago the children and I were doing our daily Bible lesson.  It just happened to be on modesty.  It posed some very convicting questions.

Like:

What images come to mind when you hear the word "modesty"?

What about the immodest fashions prevalent in our world today? Does it matter? Why or why not?

Must a young lady dress like her grandmother? How can young women still dress youthfully but also modestly?

Do clothes, or the lack thereof, have the power to lead people to sin?

Should Christian women wear clothes that attract sexual attention? Why or why not?

Give an example of immodest dress.

Some scripture we read:
I JOHN 2:16-17: “For all that is in the world -- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life -- is not of the Father but of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.”

MATTHEW 5:27-28: “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a women to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

HEBREWS 13:4: “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.”

ROMANS 14:13: “Let us not judge one another anymore but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.”

Modesty is an attitude. Consequently, some women may not realize that what they wear could cause others to stumble. People in the church should encourage and help teach young ladies and young gentlemen to dress modestly with love and tact. Titus 2:4-5 implores older ladies to teach the younger women.

Ladies, what do we want our clothes to say about us? What message does God want us to communicate?
