Psalm 90:12
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

With the recovery from back surgery I feel as if I have numbered my days! I am doing well I went to the doctor yesterday and was cleared to drive again! YEAH!!! A month without being able to drive was not fun. But God really used this time to teach me many things...I've gained a heart of wisdom. I have learned to appreciate many things in my life. Being able to take care of my family is precious to me now. Before my surgery I would complain about a lot of things I had to do, dishes, cleaning, picking up after people ect. Now I can't wait to get the ok to go back to doing all of this. I have done so much reading and studying of God's word that now I can't get enough of it. My Husband and I have begun reading through the Bible in a year. It is our quiet time before bed. I have really grown to love that time we spend together reading, talking and listening to what God is telling us. Do not take anything for granted, even housework. Have a great day. Sorry there is no picture today. God Bless! Thank you for all the prayers.

Word Filled Wednesday

The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1
I know I posted this picture on Monday, but I really like this picture for so many reasons. One it reminds me of a simpler time when this was the only source of light in your home. But the best reason of all is it reminds me that in total darkness Christ's light shines for you. It guides you along all types of paths. Even before you come to a personal relationship with Him. Do not let another day pass you by before asking Him to be your guiding light. If you are not sure how to do this please contact me or someone you know who has this personal relationship I am talking about. What a better Christmas gift to yourself, the knowledge that you will have eternal life! Best of all it is FREE!!
"The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?"
Psalm 27:1
So this will be my last post for a while. As I have posted before I will be going in tomorrow (I can't believe it is here already) for back surgery. I will not be able to be on the computer for sometime while my body heals. I pray each of you has a very Merry CHRISTmas!
My Husband will be checking my emails and giving them to me. Just leave a comment here and it will get to me. God Bless and thank you so much for the prayers. I know God has me in his hands.

Word Filled Wednesday

"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

God is the God of hope. With God you will have joy and peace all you have to do is trust in him. I have been thinking about this verse with my upcoming surgery next week. The closer it gets the more anxious I become. I know God is there with me through it all but Satan uses this to try and get me to doubt God.

"in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:18
I've posted this verse before, but today is a day I need this verse. I pray that everyone has a wonderful weekend...and those in the US have a Happy Thanksgiving. We should be thanking God everyday not just the 4th Thursday of November.

Word Filled Wednesday

2 Timothy 1:7

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

This verse was printed out and hung above my sister when she was in the ICU at the hospital. My parents read this verse everyday. It became their crutch during the days of not knowing if she would survive. God always has a reason for why things happen in life. It is not for us to ask why...we are just to give the situation over to him. I am thrilled to say that my sister has recovered from her illness, somewhat. Sadly, she will probably never come home, she will be in an assisted living hospital for the remainder of her life. But God knows the reasons.

Word Filled Wednesday

1 Thessalonians 5:18
"give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

This verse hit me like a ton of bricks the other day. I've read it many times but it hit home to me. Give thanks IN ALL .... wow, all things give thanks. That means we are to thank God for the bad things as well?! It is very easy to thank God for everything that is going well in our lives. Although the bad things do not come directly from God...he may allow them to happen. So remember to thank God for His presence in our lives. But looking back over some of the bad things in my life I can see God's hand at work. They all lead to Him, to bring Him the glory. So the next time something isn't going your way, remember that God is in control. Give it over to him. Easier said than done I know!!
Are you remembering God in ALL circumstances?

Wordfilled Wednesday

Ecclesiastes 3:1

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:

Solomon wrote these words to tell us that God has a plan for everyone. God takes us through many seasons in life. Some good some bad. When we face the bad times we need to keep our eyes on God. The problems or trials we face might seem to us like we are not doing what God wants us to do. Do not let these lead you away from God, or create walls between you and God. We need to realize that these "seasons" are only temporary. If we are in the Word everyday, spending time with our Father, we are doing what he wants from us. Do not let your heart harden through the "cold seasons", the "spring thaw" is just around the corner.

Word Filled Wednesday

This is a great way to pair a scripture verse with a favorite picture of yours. For more word filled Wednesday posts stop by 160 Acre Woods blog and check them out. Be prepared to be blessed!!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
This passage was my Grandfather's favorite passage of scripture. It should be a reminder that no matter what we go through here we are to keep our eyes on the heavenly Father. Even though there will be days when everything seems to be going wrong (health, money, family ect) we need to remember that these are only temporary! One day we will be in glory with perfect bodies, no pain, no worry! There is a light at the end....Jesus Christ, just put your trust in him.

Word Filled Wednesday

Matthew 26:64

"Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."

This verse has become very exciting to me recently. For the past 5-6 months I have been devouring the Bible. I can not seem to get enough! I use to dread watching the news everyday. But now after reading this verse I am eager to watch and see how close the time of Christ coming back to earth really is. Did you know that right now many countries are discussing the one world currency? When the stock market crashed last week I sat the children down for a lesson about everything going on and how it relates to the Bible. I told them that all of this is in God's plan. They needed to make sure their hearts are right with God today not tomorrow. We may not have a tomorrow. I told them to keep their eyes on the sky because Christ's return is coming very soon! Well our daughter Hannah has learning disabilities and does not always understand what we are talking about, she went outside and was standing in the back lawn looking up to the sky and saying, "Jesus where are you....I'm ready to meet you." That just touched my heart. Children put things in such a simple manner, adults are the ones who twist everything around and make it more difficult. Are you ready for Christ's return? Do not wait until tomorrow. If you do not know for sure please contact someone...even email me.

Word FIlled Wednesday

James 1:22

" But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

Are you a "doer" of the word? We can read, read, read and read some more but until you actually start living what you read you will be deceiving yourself. You will also be missing out on the many blessings God has in store for you. You need to put into action what God's word is telling you.

Word Filled Wednesday

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

At the very beginning of our new life in Christ we are like little babies. We need food and nourishment to grow, the Bible is that source for us. We need it daily for good growth in God. The more we read our old mind set (before Salvation) starts to fade away. But the minute we stop feeding on the Word of God those old ways creep back in. Do not just read the Word of God but meditate on it. I have to take one verse like 2 Peter 3:18 and read it and reread it over and over again before I can really absorb it. Write it down, place it somewhere you can read it all the time. For me I place it in the kitchen on the refrigerator as a reminder of my verse for the day. Sometimes it even takes me a week to commit it to memory. I then place then in a card file box and when I need some reminders I get them out. Or I "quiz" myself on the verse. We need these daily reminders to turn away from those bad habits and replace them with habits that are honoring to God. What changes have you made to be more like Jesus?

This will be my last post for a while. Tomorrow (9/25) I will be going into the hospital for a procedure on my back which will require me to rest for 3 or more days after. This procedure I pray will give us some answers and where to go from here regarding my back. We do know that I have a broken vertebrae in my lower back. The myelogram will determine the amount of nerve damage done and if surgery will be required. Have a great weekend!

2 Peter 3:18

"But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."
I've been struggling with contentment lately. It has really given me a heavy heart. When you are not content in your life are you saying to God that you are not giving me enough, or you haven't given me what I need. YES!! It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that it finally hit me, although I was not "complaining" on the outside, not being content was complaining. We have been struggling here financially. I try so hard not to complain about things to my Husband who works very hard and many hours for our money. We desperately need a new roof on our house, but no funds to be able to do it. There are also many other things that need to be done here before winter. Then there are taxes.....the list could go on and on. I realized that I had been complaining to God in my own little way by not being content. I would always think to my self, if only our house was bigger, or if only....you fill in the words. I finally had given it over to him completely. There is usually one area in a person's life that they try to hold onto and not let God take over. I finally gave it all over to him. I learned to lean fully on God and that he will supply ALL our needs. Not just some of them. Then in the mail the other day came a very unexpected check. The check will not only cover the repairs to the house but our other needs as well!! How great is our God!!!! I was not going to post about this for various reasons. But after I thought about it I decided to. I thought maybe there was someone who was struggling with this same area of their life. It may something small or something huge you are not content with. Also our God has a bit of a sense of humor also....Monday our ladies Bible study started up again at Church and guess what the topic is....CONTENTMENT!! Must be he wants to make sure I really get it....it sometimes takes me awhile. Especially since it took me 33 years to finally submit to God fully. September 20 (this Saturday) will be 3 years old in Christ. Have a great word filled Wednesday!!

WFW-Wait on the Lord

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, Declares the Lord, Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

We live in a society where we have to have things now. It is very hard at times to wait on God to see what he wants us to do. When we get an idea we have to go grab it now. Something does not go our way we get impatient. When we are in pain we want God to take it from us now not later. I've had to come back to this verse many times in the past few months. I know that God has plans for me and it is up to me to wait on God for them to play out. Everything happens in God's time not ours. We may think it is time for something to happen but God isn't ready to reveal his plan to us yet.

Train up a Child...WFW

Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

I have to say that this week has not been one of the better homeschool weeks! I know it is because I am kind of grumpy because of my ailments. I'm pretty short with everyone in the house. I've even been kicking around the notion of sending them back to public school. I feel that I am not teaching them the right way, and they are not learning. Then God spoke to my heart yesterday. I've been reading 2 Kings and came across in chapter 3 verse 7, "Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant King instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in." Now I know this is not the context of this verse but the last part where it says, "but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in" really spoke to me, I need to convey to them better what I expect from them. I can not expect the children to do right all the time. I think my expectations are too high for them. Sending them back to school...wrong! Keeping them home where they belong...right!
The picture above is them doing our latitude and longitude dance I came up with so they could remember them. It was set to the music from Saturday Night Fever....LOL. After being in prayer for much of the evening yesterday today was a better day.

Word Filled Wednesday

2 Corinthians 12:19 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

Today's WFW is about how God is with you no matter what you are going through. This verse came to mind while traveling to the hospital. This morning I woke up with the worse pain I have ever felt! I thought it was my back again, because the pain was in my lower right side. I waited as long as I could and finally called my Husband at work to take me to the hospital. I was trying to hide the amount of pain I was in from the children but was unable to. I have a small kidney stone, yuck! They gave me some nice pain killers, but I do not like taking pills of any kind. But with the amount of pain I'm in today...Bring on the pills.

I am off now to a doctor's appointment with a neurosurgeon about my back problem. Please pray that all goes well and I will not need surgery. I think this is the shortest post I've ever done since starting to blog! Hope everyone has a wonderful WFW!! Stop by the 160 acre woods for more Word Filled Wednesday entries.
