Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods: very autumn like. I love it. The leaves are beginning to change colors, bright yellows, oranges, deep reds.

One of my simple pleasures: sitting in the house with NO noise at all except for the tick tock of the clock.

On my bedside table: Bible, fan, cell phone

On my TV: nothing

On the menu for tonight: Brown sugar chicken I saw Giada make on Food Network.

On my To Do List: get ready for my son Andrew's 10th birthday party Saturday. His birthday isn't until the 12th but this is the only time family can get together. I can't believe my baby is going to be 10. I'm having a very difficult time with it.

New Recipe I tried last week: none last week

In the craft basket: scrapbooking and cardmaking.

Looking forward to: the ladies craft fellowship at church at the end of October.

Homemaking Tip for this week: with the threat of the flu lurking at every turn, keep hand sanitizer with you at all times! We bought huge bottles of it this weekend. Make sure you wash and cleanse your cars also.

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other): did not read any this week.

Favorite photo from last week: my aspiring firefighter!

Lesson learned the past few days: there are many judgmental people in the world. EVEN in Christian circles. Just let me say that the kids and I were called baggage. My husband was talking with someone about a few things and this is what we were called his baggage!! I do not want to go into detail. But please pray for me....I'm feeling VERY bitter towards this person who is a part of our church. It has made me question a lot of things, especially about the church we attend. That is just one of many things this person said. I did go to church yesterday but my heart was full of bitterness the whole day.

On my Prayer List: my Husband (he did not get the promotion at work), my Grandmother (my aunt called and said she has early onset of dementia), my daughter Katie (who has been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder), my sister Sherri (she has a brain injury and her husband has filed for divorce. Not only that, he is seeing another woman. He is unsaved), my parents, I rarely ask for prayer, but I'm feeling very overwhelmed lately.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: Proverbs 14:33 (New American Standard Bible)
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, But in the hearts of fools it is made known.

I too like to sit in the quiet and just listen to the tick tock of the clock. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

First off could you send me the flier for the craft day!!!

Second I don't want you to think for a moment that I am sticking up for the person who said those things BUT I will say that bitterness isn't God honoring and neither is what they said...It's also not the church's fault....I know this is very difficult but see if you can get the book "how Can I Love those Prickly people"

We did it as dorm devotions in school...It doesn't matter where you go in life or what church you go to THERE WILL ALWAYS BE PRICKLY PEOPLE! It's sin and it's what you do with them that can be sin as well so don't let them get you caught up in their drama...Who knows maybe it's their way of projecting issues in their own lives...Pray for them...in a very meaningful way. Ask God to calm and take away the bitterness. Hubby and I have spent so much time praying for certain situations that we have had to confront and weren't sure how to and all of a sudden God is taken care of them. It's funny how we think it is all up to us and when it comes right down to it God wants us to take everything to him....

I have been in your shoes before...BUT Ron has never shared the details...I understand why Matt shared with you But I am so thankful that Ron hasn't shared some of the gruesome details of what people have said about me. People think they know who you are and they don't Matt knows you better than anyone else and so does God.

Lastly I think I received some of the best advice on this very subject from My Chicaletics class (the real name was something like Ministry communications for women BUT WE CHANGED THE NAME LOL)

She said that there are a lot of people like this especially when you are in the ministry (maybe this is what god is preparing you for) I have met my fair share and I have been in the ministry WAY shorter than she was. She said that we should look at it as constructive criticism from God...This took us all a while to grasp but think of it as God was trying to say something that a sinful person took and mangled in such a way that God was disappointed and will deal with them later (I AM NOT SAYING THERE IS ANYTHING!!!) Evaluate, Pray through scripture, ask God to reveal anything that might be a hindrance or "baggage" as they so put it...If God reveals something GREAT if not GREAT too. The you need to forgive. It's necessary and required. You know that is where God wants you! You can't second guess that every time someone says something inconsiderate or stupid...you'll always be leaving a church BECAUSE churches still have sinners in them.....Stupid things will stop being said when we are finally all in heaven and in our new bodies. The best way for you to forgive that person...be very nice to them Change their opinion of you...You have the power to do that!!!

I know I have rambled on BUT god has taken me down this road so many times. Oh the Stories i could tell!!!! It's hard But know that they are a work in progress as well and that they will fail just like you will fail and just like I have failed!

I hope you have a better day today AND if you want to talk or clarify ANYTHING i have said Please feel free to call me. I'll be home all day Until about 5 this evening!
We love you and are praying for you guys!

Jen, I am lifting you up in prayer right now. I know how discouraging it is when others at church say unkind things like that. This is usually due to their spiritually and emotional immaturity. I totally understand that it's hard not to take comments like that personally. I have to constantly remind myself that all Christians mature at different rates. When I am treated like that, I try to gain a positive lesson from it. I know how hurtful it is to be the recipient of such comments, so it makes me choose my own words more carefully when I speak to others.

Blessings,

Jane
