Book Review~~The Miracle of Mercy Land

I had a hard time getting through this book.  It was really hard for me to get into.  If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you know that in order for me to give a good review a book has to grab my attention from the first chapter.  This book did not do that.  BUT I did continue along.  It was not (in my opinion) very well written. It was pretty dry.   I really did not "get" the plot until more than half way through.   Then it seemed to go flat!  I felt as if I was walking down a road waiting to get somewhere never really getting there.

The main characters are somewhat interesting but I still do not feel as if I have a full image of who they really are.  The main characters find a book that allows them to change the past.  One thing this book did for me was make me more aware of the choices people make in life....mostly my own.

All I can say is what a blessing this book was!  I could not put this book down.  It took me less than 2 days to read this.  This is a book about a seventeen year old who attempted suicide, but only through the saving grace of God did she survive.  In the book she talked all about her struggles with recovery, hospitals and therapy. 

As a mom of a child who struggles with Bi-Polar my heart went out to her mother.  At the end of the book Kristen's mom wrote a Afterword in there.  I wanted to hug her and her mother many times in this book.  Many times as parents we try to "fix" our children.  Through this book I realized that only God can "fix" them.  Not that they need to be fixed, they just need to realize their need for Him!!  God has plans for each of us...He created us just the way he wants us!

I am making this book a required reading for my daughter.  I am also going to pass it onto the youth leaders in our church.  Kristen was very honest in the book..there was no sugar coating any of the details of her journey!

Book Review--Indivisible by Kristen Heitzmann

This was the first book by Kristen Heitzmann I've ever read.  But it will not be my last.  I love a good mystery novel and this had a little of everything in it.  Not only that but the author is a home school mom!!

I got this book and read it in one day.  She does such a good job at making you feel a part of the story.  From all the characters to the small town.  She also keeps you on your toes...I loved how the stories went back and forth.  Keeps you..the reader...thinking!  I will not say anymore because with a book this good it is hard for me to not give away all the good parts.

I'm going to be looking for more books from this author.  Thank you Waterbrook Multnomah for giving me a copy of this book for review.
