A Dream Unfolding (Prescott Pioneers Book 1)

When I got this book in the mail I just sat and ooooed and ahhhed over the cover.  You know the kind...beautiful and captivating.  It's no secret I love everything that has to do with the pioneers and their way of life. 

This book is the first in a series (I'll be reviewing the other 2 soon).  I had a hard time putting this one down.  I was really drawn into the story of Hannah and Will.  So many aspects of the story I can relate too.  One being we moved into a new house.  My husband had never moved before, the house we did live in was built by his parents.  Although our move was not nearly as challenging or dangerous as Will's, it was still a time of adjustment.  If you love books that take place in the 1800's this one is for you!!

The Prescott Pioneers series is written by Karen Baney.  She and her husband live in Arizona with their dogs.  You can read more about her on her website HERE.

MY THOUGHTS:

Just like anything in life we get settled into a "normal" routine.  Sadly our marriages get into that same old routine.  This book is full of great ideas to keep your marriage fresh.  Satan will use anything and everything to drive a wedge between a husband and a wife.

These are very easy assignments.  That will help you make some changes in your life or even apply the concept of the week to your life.

This section teaches you to partner with God to get the insight needed to accomplish the WOW.

This is a way to apply the idea of the week and put a smile on your husband's face.

The chapters are very short and did not take a lot of time to complete.  I can't wait to work through this book completely and bring that smile back to my husband's face.  This book is a must have for every wife!  No matter what your stage of life is.  We as wives need to stop thinking so much of ourselves and start WOWing our husbands.

MY THOUGHTS:

This is a beautiful book!  My daughter Hannah and I have read through this book many many times.  Each time it brings tears to my eyes.  Especially now that my children are growing up.  I look at them and still see my little babies.  This book wraps all those feeling right up in print!

MY THOUGHTS:

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you will know I love Amish fiction.  Having grown up around many Mennonites I love that kind of simple life.  Anyway...This book was just what I expected from Wanda Brunstetter!  AMAZING!  Her books capture my attention from the very first page.  I can sneak away and feel the rocks under my feet, smell of the wood stove burning or the smell of the fresh hay in the barn.  I love that about her books.  The only downfall about this book is now I have to wait until the fall in order to read the next one.  :-(

I can really relate to Suzanne in this story.  She was not very good in the kitchen at all.  She would rather be working in the woodshop.  Although I never liked woodshop, I was such a tomboy in my younger years.  It wasn't until my early 30's when I really developed a love for all things home!

So far this book is amazing.  Like sitting around the table with a girlfriend hearing her tell you like it is.  OR how it is supposed to be in your walk with Christ!  I am not done with this book yet.  It is one of those books you just can not and should not rush through.  I will be back with my complete review.

Book Review~~Weirsbe Bible Study Series Nehemiah

I've said it before but I'll say it again.  I really enjoy Weirsbe's studies.  They speak to "normal" folks and those who are very educated in the Bible.  I enjoy the in depth study of the book that he does.  It's like having your very own Bible teacher in your own home.  We are planning on getting more of these studies.  My husband and I are doing these together.  It has been great!!

My Thoughts:

This book could not have come at a better time!!  I have taken that first step to getting my weight under control.  I am a fan of The Biggest Loser show and remember watching her on it.  I can relate with her on so many levels.  Not just the weight but her children.  Her son has autism.  She talks about the "skinny girl inside" and I often wonder what my skinny girl will be like.  This is one of those books I keep right at my desk next to my Bible.  When I'm feeling troubled I can go to it.  It's like having someone right there with me at a moments notice.  I highly recommend this book!!

My Thoughts:

This book was just as good as book 2!!  My daughter took it right from me when it arrived in the mail.  She went through it in a couple of days.  So that in and of itself was a real big plus for me.  My daughter does not like to read!! 

I can relate to Kaydie after being in a marriage that was not good I swore off marriage ever again.  But it was only when it was given over to God that it was how it should be.  This book is a must read!  I can't wait for number 3!  I have to say these are just as good if not better than Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series!!

MY THOUGHTS:This was a good book full of things that many churches do not want to address.  These are real problems in families today.  When difficult problems arise it is the way of most people to sweep it under the rug and let God handle it.  Yes we need to let God handle it, but we do not and should not try and minister to those hurting.  This is a great book!  I'm passing it onto my husband.

MY THOUGHTS:

This book was breath taking!  I have often wondered how Mary felt about things.  How her life was before, during and after Christ.  Although I realize this is completely fiction and made up, Laura's words made it seem real.  I was totally emerged in the story.  I was walking on the dirt road, feeling the dust on my skin.  I LOVE stories like that.  Chapter 37 made me feel as if I was standing at the cross during the Crucifixion.  I was filled with emotion!  This is a book everyone should read!!  I will be reading it again and again.  I believe this is her first book... I really hope she writes more books.  She has such a way with words.  I'm going to read this with my kids!!

MY THOUGHTS:

I've been a fan of The Crabb Family's music for along time.  This book made me realise we ALL walk through trials.  Many times when you hear people on the radio you think to yourself...boy I wish I had it all together like they do!!  I never stopped to think that they struggle just like we do...many times more than we do.  They have this "image" they have to keep.  In the book Jason talks about his past and the scars.  My past is something I struggle a lot with!!  But God saved me for a purpose!  I really think everyone should read this book.  It is a great uplifting book!  I realized that I'm not the only one with a past!

MY THOUGHTS:
I really enjoyed this book.  I have really grown to love Dr. Warren Wiersbe's books.  His teaching in the book is so profound.  I've said this before, I have always thought of Dr. Wiersbe's books to be over my head!  But they are not.  Jesus is the I AM not the I WAS!

MY THOUGHTS:

When I first read the information about this book I kind of did so with my head shaking.  I mean a Daniel Fast COOKBOOK!! LOL!  But the recipes in it are really tasty looking.  The recipes are loaded with fresh vegetables and wholesome ingredients.  I can not wait to try more of these.  The Broccoli Au Gratin, Spaghetti Squash Ceviche are just a couple I can not wait to try.  This book is completely vegetarian, gluten and dairy free.  These are very simple recipes.  I still chuckle a little when I read the title but don't let that deter you from buying this book!!  YUM!!

FIRST Book review~~Love food and live well by Chantel Hobbs

I posted a while ago about my struggle with my weight.  Until last year it had just become part of who I am.  I have done a lot of soul searching recently and realized I needed to change.  I told myself this was going to be the year for me to not only loose weight but to be healthy while doing it.  No pills, fast tricks ect.  It was going to take good old fashioned hard work.  Then this book came up for review!! WOOHOO!!

When I got the book I thought after looking at the front cover...."Oh great another size 2 pretty blonde telling ME how to loose weight!!"  But this book was so easy to read I had a hard time putting it down.  I can not say enough good things about it.  It is full of lifestyle changing strategies for you.  The only thing I would of liked to have seen in there are some before and after pictures of the author.

I really like this book.  I plan on reading through it slower next time so we are able to go through all the activities.  This book will help us a great deal with our finances.  The activities are not difficult to do....which is what I really like about it.

When I saw this book come up for review I was very excited!!  Our children are beyond this stage, but we have many nieces and nephews that would enjoy this.

It was very well written, held right to scripture, but also put it in a form easy for children.  I often have problems with baby bible type of books.  They water down the facts.  Not that I think a baby book has to be full of theology, but I think you get my point.

This book would make a great gift for the favorite little one on your Christmas list.

Warren Wiersbe to me was WAY over my head.  So I often stayed away from his books and teachings.  At the prompting of my husband I reviewed one of his "Be" series books on Judges.  I LOVED it.  When this book came up for review I was thrilled!! 

Pause for Power is a 365 day journey through Scripture.  The devotionals are short but full of detail.  I found  myself reading each days devotional and then going on a detailed journey in the Bible.  At the bottom of the entry is "something to ponder".  It gives you a thought provoking question. 

I'm looking forward to starting this book from the beginning starting with January 1.  Just because you don't have a theology degree, don't think you can't and won't understand Warren Wiersbe's books.  I have learned so much from his writings that I look forward to more.  If you are looking for a wonderful Christmas present this is perfect!!  The gift that keeps on giving all year long.

My thoughts:

I could not put this book down.  There is a little of everything in this book, history, mystery and even romance.  I love historical novels and this book transported me back to the 1920's.  The author did such a good job of making me feel like I was right there.  I could smell the bread, see the wild life and flowers blowing in the breeze.  I had to force myself to put this book down and go to sleep.  :-)

This book has left me wanting to visit Eagles Mere, PA.  I will certainly be watching for Holly's next book.  Until then go on over to Amazon and check out this book!!
