Love is...

Love is...
Seeing the joy on my children's faces each day.  Not because of what they got, but because they have the joy of the Lord in their hearts.

Love is...
Being able to give my loved ones special gifts on Valentine's Day.

Love is...
Knowing that my family doesn't need a bunch of stuff to know I love them.  It's more of the small things each day that shows them.
Love is...
Showing people the love of Christ.  We never know why God has us going through certain circumstances.  It might just be to lead another through their dark times.  We are the light Jesus uses to bring the hurting to His feet.
My husband and I rarely give each other big expensive gifts on Valentine's Day.  We enjoy the "just because" gifts through out the year.  One thing that we learned in our foster care classes was the importance of taking time out as a couple.  We tend to push aside our date nights.  Mostly because of the lack of money.  So for the past few months I have been collecting gift cards to our favorite restaurants.  That way we will have pre-paid date nights.  There will not be the excuse of not having the money.

I have wrapped the cards up so we do not even know where we are going until the night of our date.  Keeps the element of surprise into the mix.  I also like to make my husband something instead of buying something at the store.  One of my facebook friends made this very creative card for her husband's birthday.  I thought that would be perfect for Valentine's Day.  It did not cost that much at all.

It really made my day seeing the joy on his face as he read this.  The kids also had a great time helping me put this together.  It was so much fun!

So remember it's not about what you give your loved ones.  It really is the thought that goes into the gift.  The picture of the candle is what my husband gave me.  I love candles and enjoy lighting them at night while I am waiting for him to return from work.
