Recon

When you see the word "recon" what is the first thing that comes to mind?  For me, the word war came to mind first.  That is exactly what the Recon curriculum will prepare your junior and senior high students for.  We are at war with Satan on a daily basis.  It is up to us as parents to make sure our children have everything they need going into battle.

 

Recon has 72 lessons in it.  Each lesson takes about 40 minutes to complete.  The lessons are designed to be used over 4 days of instruction per week.  This will cover one semester or about  18 weeks.  It's also designed so you can change it to fit your family's schedule. 

 

 

Recon was developed by a homeschooling Dad of 7, Bill Perry.  It is developed to equip our children for what they will encounter after graduation from high school.

 

 

I love what he calls the Bible~"Bible = Strategic Intelligence Manual" (SIM) .  If you think about it, that is exactly what it is in our lives.  The Bible needs to be the first "manual" we go to and the last "manual" we go to.

 

We all used this together as a family.  I know this said it was designed for high school students but we were sure our other children would benefit from it as well.  Our son who is 13, has a desire to enter the military.  So when he saw this book with all it's military "lingo" in it he was begging us to use it.  So why not!  He has really grown in his faith from this book.  He walks around talking about his CO (Commanding Officer).  He knows that God commands our every step.  It is up to us to follow the orders given.  We are not going to know what the orders are unless we are in the SIM everyday!  It's not only Andrew that has grown in his faith...we ALL have!  Personally I think this is a great family study.  Something you can all benefit from.

 

I personally want to thank Mr. Perry for creating a curriculum that will not only challenge us to live the life God wants, but prepare us for the battles that are coming!
