Today's focus was mainly on leisure activities of the soldier. I did miss the open fire cooking. But Andrew (Union Side) made:
Ham
Bacon
Beans
Each side made things that would of been prepared by the soldiers.
The Confederates made:
Hash
Bacon
Beans
This picture I took a few years ago at the Civil War Re-enactment. But they did it the same way today. I know I sound like a broken record, but if your children think history is boring...sign them up for Summer Sampler. There are still spaces available in some classes this summer.
A nice friendly game of baseball.
Everyone gets involved...this is one of the officers.
Again it was so hot out today. But he did great at staying hydrated.
The spectators. These girls are part of Summer Sampler as well. Their class is called "Confections". They are making cakes, cookies and candy! YUM!!
Preparing for a battle.
Sometimes I think the boys enjoy the falling down more than anything. It has really been a lot of fun watching Andrew this week. He loves the museum as much as we do.
OH no here comes the Confederates!
Battle is now over. All in all it was a good day.
More spectators. It reminds me of the stories I've heard where people actually stopped and did watch the battle being fought....The First Battle of Bull Run.
If you are local and interested in signing your children up click HERE to read more about it. The phone number is there as well to call.
