Happy Homemaker Monday

Weather in my neck of the woods...
Pretty mild for this time of the year.  We have not had our "typical" snowfall yet for this time of the year.  Our children are not happy about that...neither is my Dad for that matter.  You see each year when we get our first ground covering of snow we make gingerbread.  Enough said! :-)

Things that make me happy...
The soft glow of candles and soon Christmas tree lights!!

Book I'm Reading...
Bible
A few books on healthy cooking
Made to Crave

What I'm enjoying on TV...
I'm watching Phineas and Ferb with my son Andrew.  I really think this show is cute...there I said it!  I can't complain...he watched "Love Comes Softly" with me this weekend.

On the menu for dinner...
I'm not really sure.  I can't eat solid foods yet.  But I'll probably make something with hamburger for my family.

On my To Do list...
Finish preparing for Thanksgiving.
Decorate for Christmas!!  YEA!

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon...

In the craft basket...
Same as last week.  I was way too sick.

Looking forward to this week...
Thanksgiving.  This is the first year we have stayed home.  It will be just the 5 of us.  I am very excited about it...first time I've ever cooked a whole Thanksgiving meal.

Tips and Tricks...
When it comes to Christmas shopping, start early and buy a little bit here and there.  BUT stick to your list.   Remember it's not all about the gifts we get, but the gift that God gave us...Christ!

My favorite blog post this week...
Tutorial on making your own book at McGuffey's World.

New Discovered Blog...
McGuffey's World.  I love love love old books.  Our daughter Hannah loves the McGuffey books.  She has one of them and just reads it over and over.

Favorite picture...

I SO enjoyed my time at Women of Faith.  Most of all I was able to share it with my daughter Katrina.  She had a ball.  Here she is enjoying Mary Mary.  Sorry about the blur...she was getting her groove on!

Lesson Learned this past few days...
The typical "all-American" diet is really not good for a person's body.  We rely way too much on processed foods.  They are destroying our bodies!!  I'm finishing up a post on my recent diagnosis that really opened my eyes to this.

Praying for...
The changes we have to make here to the way we eat.
Thanksgiving
Our community and ways we can minister to those in need.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses...
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."

I've been searching scripture about the body.  God has a lot to say about how we treat our bodies.  When we accept Christ our body becomes a temple.  I started thinking wow I'm really not caring for this temple.  The stuff I was putting in it really is not how God designed it to work.

I'm praying for you Jen, and you are so right about the food we put into our bodies, we really need to be careful. Big hugs to you in this transition.
