Gratituesday:Veterans' Day

This meme is hosted by Heavenly Homemakers. It is a great way each week to remember all the Lord has given you to be thankful for. Stop by her blog to see other posts.
I'm thankful for all the men and women who served our country by enlisting in the armed forces. The put their lives on the line for the freedoms we have today. It is sad that many areas do not celebrate Veterans' Day like it should be. We found no activities in our area for today. So we have decided to pick a few Veterans' that we know and "shower them with blessings and Thanks". First on our list is my brother in law, he was in the Navy and served in the Persian Gulf, we will be making him cookies and cards. The second is my parent's neighbor, he was in the Army during Korea, we will be doing the same for him. I'm so thankful that these men and women are fighting for us. With out them we may not have the freedoms to attend Church, Homeschool ect. May God bless each and every one of them!
I'm also thankful for the ones who are over there right now serving our Country. Many blessings to them and the ones they leave behind. You all make a huge sacrifice during the time they are deployed. Although we do not know all the families personally, we do lift you up in prayer each day!

I posted a brief thank you today too on this. It seems like many do not remember Veteran's Day like they should.

I love your idea about finding a couple of veterans and showering them with affection and cookies. What a practical way to 'love thy neighbor'! I love finding practical ways to apply God's commandments ... thanks for teaching me today. May God grant you a speedy recovery from your surgery, and may He bless you with good pain management.

You're right, we should make a bigger deal about Veteran's Day.

Jen,
I've been praying for your back and will start praying now for your surgery and all the preparations leading up to it. Thanks for stopping by Transformed Moms today! You are more than welcome to use any or all of the idea there to bless your children or anyone for that matter! To Him be the glory!
