The Marriage You've Always Wanted {Book Review}

I have always been a big fan of Gary Chapman's books.  So when I was asked to review his latest book about marriage I was very happy to do so.  The Marriage You've Always Wanted is a small book loaded with information!  I would suggest doing this together as a couple.  At the end of the chapter are "Your Turn" questions.  They are thought provoking questions to answer. 

Lets face it....Life gets in the way so often.  This past year was a prime example of how life and it's problems can get in the way of your marriage.  It is so easy to just get into a routine rut.  Go about life same thing each day.  Marriage is hard work!  It takes both working, praying and seeking God's will on their marriage.  My husband and I were not believers when we were dating.  We actually accepted Christ 2 months before we were married.  We did not discuss things that many couples headed into marriage talk about.  Things like finances, will the wife work, who does what responsibilities.  We have had to figure these out as we go along.

Gary Chapman has done it again in my opinion.  There are 9 chapters in the book.  This is not a book that can be read through in a night.  It is something that needs to be done bit by bit.  There is SO much information in the book it will take a lot to get through.  Go through it with your husband. 

"Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not;

charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own,

is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things,

endureth all things.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies,

they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease;

whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away."

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

 

 

We are to love our husband's forever!  Oh I know it is not always easy.  I know I am not always loveable either.  I have discovered many areas I need to work on.  I leave you with a quote from the book, "As you see where you are wrong, confess it, accept God's forgiveness, and ask His Spirit to control you.  People do not make us miserable.  We choose to be miserable." 

 

I HIGHLY suggest you get this book and read through it with your husband.  It is a great way to finish or start your day.
