Women in the Word Wednesday

This is my first time doing this meme.  I thought it would be a perfect fit for my "Made to Crave" journey.  This weekly meme is hosted by Living on Love and Cents , My Slice of Sanity, One + One = Four and Flutterbys And Frogs.  Each week you can post about your time in the Word.  You do not have to post a devotional, you can simply post words of encouragement.  You can even post a link to a devotional or encouraging word that touched you this week.

Like I mentioned in my review of Made To Crave I said there were "personal reflection" questions at the end of the chapter.  These really make you dig deep and think about yourself and food.  In the chapter the author talks about your cravings taking on a type of form.  Like a well known weight loss company with the little orange monster.  We were asked to describe what our craving being might look like.  For me my cravings are huge...it would not look like a cute little pom pom...LOL!  It would be more like a drooling pile of creepy goo!!

In 1 John 2: 15-16 it says:
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world."

Food cravings can be applied to this verse as well.  We crave what we think about all the time.  I could crave God the same way I crave food!!  Lysa says in the chapter, "We crave what we eat!"  If I eat more junk food I will crave it more.  If I eat more fruit and veggies I'll eventually want that.  I will have trained myself to want and like these.  I'm still digging deep to find out WHY I have a problem craving junk instead of what is good.  It's a lot like our Christian walk...It is very easy to slip into sin with just a small taste.  But it's just as easy to have that fellowship with God.  Perhaps I need to spend more time with just Him!!  It is difficult for me to take ME time.  I feel guilty if I tell my family not to bother me.

She also mentions 1 Corinthians 10:23 that says:
"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify."

I am going to print this verse out and hang it all over the house.  Mainly the kitchen!!  I pray that you crave God instead of anything else!!

Good observation: We will crave God more if we spend more time with Him and have our "tastes" adjusted.
