I must be honest and say it took me about 10 chapters to actually get into the story. I LOVE scottish history but this was difficult for me to understand. Once I got through all that the story seemed to take off. I was also quite taken back about all description and focus on Lord Donald's infidelity was much too great. Especailly for a CHRISTIAN fiction novel. But once I put that all behind me I realized the characters are intriguing and leave you wanting more. As I turned the pages I felt as though I was in Scotland seeing all the stories of their families.

I reviewed this book too - and I so agree w/ you that I was somewhat taken aback w/ Donald's infidelity - yikes!! It was a little too sordid for me for a CHRISTIAN novel - but the other facts were interesting. I'm still trying to decide how to exactly review the book on my blog ... but I will say somewhat what you did!
Donald's infidelity was a little out there and a little unsettling.
Just like I told Conny though, I really enjoyed the book, maybe because I just concentrated on the Scottish history and dove into the language etc. Was really good :)
