Our son, Andrew (Bubbies is his nickname I gave him when he was born) was "bored" earlier today and wanted something to do. Since it is above freezing today...WOOHOO 34 degrees...I said go out and play. No I don't want to do that. Well I asked what do you want to do? I want to make something. I said ok get the stuff out of the craft bin and go at it. NO he promptly told me, I want to cook something. Since I do not feel well today, I'm tired and have a killer head ache, I said Honey I don't feel well today, maybe tomorrow. He asked me if he could do it by himself. Well ummm, you as parents know how nice it is to have a clean kitchen and have it stay that way, OK I said. He went to the cookbook shelf and got out the "
101 Things to do with a Cake Mix" cookbook. He found one he wanted to make, gathered all the ingredients and started. As I held my breath and took pictures at the same time...maybe that's why I have a head ache! LOL! he began to make the
Chewy chocolate chip bars.
1 box of cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup of oil
3/4 cup chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients (except the chocolate chips) in a bowl. Stir well.
Add Chocolate Chips and Keep stirring....it builds muscle!!
Press into a 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 14-16 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
ENJOY!!
If anyone hasn't heard of the 101 things..cookbooks you should really look for them. There are some really great recipes in them. Not only that they are very quick and easy recipes that even children can do.
