This morning our area emergency personnel lost 2 of it's finest. I did not know them personally but feel the loss just the same. Fire Fighters and EMS personnel hold a special place in my heart. Right now all I can do is pray. Pray for God's peace over the families that lost a son and a father this morning.
A sick evil man opened fire on firefighters as they responded to a fire. A fire police believe the gunman set as a trap. I've had to answer tough questions from my 13 year old son who dreams of being a firefighter. This has hit home on so many levels. Not only is this very close to where we live, we have family serving in the fire service. It's true once it's in your blood it never leaves. I also served before I had children. Someday I would love to get back into it.
These two men running into danger doing what they loved will never be able to come home again. I'm asking everyone to please take a moment to pray for the families. Next time you see a volunteer firefighter en route to the fire hall please say a prayer for them. It's the least we can do.

Jen, this has been a sad and strange day. After this happened we just came home to our neighbor's house burning down. My husband is out there right now serving the firemen hot cocoa while they pack up and safely head home.
How sad! Praying for those families who lost someone.
