I want to start off by wishing all my readers a very Merry Christmas! I pray that each of you had a blessed Christmas.
Our Christmas looked something like this....
We watched our favorite holiday classic. Watching "It's a Wonderful Life" is something we do each year.
Then we finished off Christmas Eve with the reading of "FireFighter's Night Before Christmas"
We love this twist on the classic "Twas the Night Before Christmas". My husband reads this to us each year before we head off to bed on Christmas Eve.
Then we glanced outside and saw this beautiful sight! I love snow! It's even more spectacular on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Now that our children are a bit older they tend to sleep in a little bit. This year they were up at 7:30 am. I still think that is a bit early. Haha
We make the kids wait until we have had our first cup of coffee before coming downstairs. I know we are so mean. haha.
Let the ripping begin! I love to see their expressions while they are opening up their gifts. It took me about 4 hours to wrap all the gifts...it took them 30 minutes to unwrap. LOL! In the end it's all worth it.
Then we sat down to Overnight Caramel French Toast. Oh my this stuff is so good. We have this every year. Let me tell you, it's so sweet honestly I can only tolerate it once a year. But oh boy it's so good.
Then I sat here watching our children play with their gifts. There was piles of papers and boxes all over the house.
Along with...
Lets not forget...
a Halo war commencing in the middle of our living room. You know what it didn't bother me one bit. I am feeling so blessed today. I thought and prayed often for the local firemen's families that are grieving today. I'm blessed that my family is all safe and still here with me. We must treat each day like it is our last. God could call us home at any moment. We are not guaranteed a tomorrow.
After a while we sat down for our Christmas supper by candle light.
Our supper this evening consisted of ham, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole and sweet potatoes.
Now it was onto game time! Andrew got Creationary this year. It's like Pictionary but you must build the clue out of Lego's. This game is a lot of fun!!
Here is my creation for a castle, pretty good if you ask me.
Now let me show you one of my favorite gifts from hubby!
My other one melted a few years ago. Boy have I missed this wonderful little invention!! The color matches my kitchen perfectly. I am looking forward to making some yummy soups with this baby! Hubby also got me a couple of cookbooks, a Thomas Kincaid coffee mug, Seasons 1-3 of Little House on the Prairie, the made for TV movie about Laura Ingalls Wilder and these wonderful slippers you pop into the microwave to warm up.
I love Christmas and everything that comes with it. But I'm also looking forward to getting the tree down and put away tomorrow. I cannot believe 2012 is almost over. The next year is going to be a really good one!!
