Our Town on Ice

Every year a local restaurant puts on a festival for the town.  It is always a lot of fun.  The past few years we have had very mild temperatures.  This year it was very cold.  Perfect for Jeff to make his ice carvings.

There was food, drinks, fun for the kids and ice carving.  We had a lot of fun.  We only had Hannah with us as the other two were off doing their own thing.  Before everything started we had a chance to stop by the fire department to see the new Quint.

The members have been training on this for a few days now.  Now they are all anxiously awaiting the maiden voyage with it.

Andrew has been watching the training and dreaming of the day he can hop on this truck.  For now he will be riding the other trucks to calls.

After a visit to the fire hall we headed down the street to the festivities.  It was so cold out we were all freezing by the time we reached the restaurant.  Thankfully they had these all over....

These were lit on fire to keep us all warm.  What a neat idea!

We were in awe of the talent of these two men!  They could take a block of ice and create something amazing using power tools!

There were ice chips flying through the air.  If it were not so cold out we could have stood here all day.

The grey board under his arm was heated up so they could adhere more ice at the base.  This was so much fun to watch how they do this.

Young and old alike stood by watching a block of ice become a work of art.

Hannah was thrilled that she was able to meet Olaf from the movie Frozen!  This was all she talked about when we found out he was going to make an appearance.

It was great seeing old friends around town.  I am thrilled there were so many people who came out to support Jeff and the Village Inn.  We are fortunate to have a great restaurant in town.

This table was made out of ice as well.  Just amazing!

On the other side of the table was a slide for liquor made out of ice.  It was neat to watch it funnel its way down the slide.  I did not get a picture of it.

We grabbed a delicious bowl of chili and sausage while we waited in line for Hannah to get a snowflake painted on her face.  We were ready to head home to warm up.  Thankfully we are finally in a warm up here.
