Asian Chicken with Sesame Noodles

This recipe can be so versatile to adapt to any palette.  I'm even thinking of adding some lime juice next time with a small hot pepper.

The sesame sauce I got from my good friend over at Full Bellies, Happy Kids.  I have been playing around with it adding this and that to it.  Today I added a tablespoon of fresh squeezed orange juice to make an Asian chicken dish.  You could use lemon or limes as well.

I mixed up a double batch of the sauce.  I took about one-third of a cup of the sauce and added the orange juice to it.  I then took the orange and placed it in the cavity of the chicken.  OH.MY.GOODNESS!!  There was orange throughout the chicken.

Asian Citrus Chicken

1 large roasting chicken
1 medium onion rough chopped
2 cloves of garlic
1 medium orange (squeeze the orange and reserve 1 tablespoon of juice)
1/3 cup Sesame sauce mixed up (you can find the recipe for that on Full Bellies, Happy Kids)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Rinse and pat the chicken dry with a paper towel.  Place the chicken into a large roaster.

Add the onion, garlic and orange to the cavity of the chicken.  Pour the juice you squeeze in the bottom of the roaster.  Pour the sesame sauce over the chicken.  Bake for about an hour or until the chicken is done.

To make the noodles I just cooked up a pound of spaghetti and poured the rest of the sauce over it.  To the remainder sauce I added a little of the orange juice.  This added a refreshing depth of flavor to the noodles.  You can leave it out if you prefer.

I could seriously make a large batch of the noodles all for myself!!  You will never want to order sesame noodles again!  I try to keep a batch of this sauce made up all the time.  Enjoy!!  I cannot wait to try lemon and lime next.

Wow! What great recipes! The sesame noodle sauce is much simpler than one I've used, I'm definately going to try it. Do you think the flavor of the sauce would go well with say, some shredded carrots, raw cabbage maybe? And the adding the orange to the chicken before roasting is inspired. I've never tried that before. I love orange chicken so I know I'll love the flavor combination.

Mary~~ I've added this sauce to everything. I've even made it with brown sugar as well. It's such a wonderful sauce.

Adding it to veggies would be so delicious!

Renee~~ Let me know what you think.
